Vidushi Aggarwal: Cellulose-Based Films as Sustainable Substrates for Advanced Optoelectronic Devices

My research explores cellulose-based films as renewable alternatives to conventional glass and plastic substrates used in advanced optoelectronic devices, with a particular focus on perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The study highlights the potential of cellulose-based materials to support sustainable device design while addressing key limitations associated with long-term stability and recyclability in short-lifespan devices such as PSCs.

My work focuses on developing conductive cellulose-based substrates by integrating transparent cellulose films with metal nanostructures such as silver nanowires (AgNWs). This approach is adopted to achieve suitable surface morphology, optical transparency, and electrical conductivity required for optoelectronic substrates, while reducing reliance on non-renewable glass and fossil-derived plastic materials. Through my research, I aim to contribute to the development of greener and circular materials for future photovoltaic and optoelectronic technologies.
