Joona Myllärniemi: Accelerating the market diffusion of wood-based innovations in packaging and textile sector

This project builds on a growing body of research exploring the intersection of sustainability, bioeconomy, and circular economy within the context of the forest industry. Previous studies have highlighted the potential of biomass-based solutions as a key component in reducing reliance on fossil-based materials, aligning with the global shift towards more sustainable production and consumption models. Research on the bioeconomy has emphasized the importance of integrating biomass-based materials into the consumer goods sector, while highlighting both policy challenges and market readiness. In this project, we investigate the challenges and drivers concerning the market diffusion of wood-based innovations in packaging and textile sectors. The overarching goal is to improve our understanding on how to accelerate the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy by fostering the adoption of wood-based innovations.
